Jan 20, 2025 - FASSelangor FC brought home a goal at the Bandaraya Stadium, Penang, yesterday with a 1-0 result against Penang FC in the first Semi-Final of the 2024/25 MFL Challenge Cup.
Yesterday's match clearly showed that both teams attack and defend relentlessly. There were many dangerous moves from Penang FC, especially on the wings, which clearly put pressure on the Red Giants' defense, but the team's defense was up to the task as they had emphasised on their defensive training prior to the match at the Bandaraya Stadium, Penang. However, luck was in Selangor FC's favour, after Quentin Cheng's cross was deflected by Rafael Victor into his own net in the 35th minute of the match.
According to Katsuhito Kinoshi, Head Coach of Selangor FC, the team needs to return with a better mentality and performance at the Bandaraya Stadium, Penang next week.
"Although we won yesterday's match, we need to improve our attack better. However, based on the training we did in defense, it is clear that the team performed well and managed to block their attacks. Looking at the results, they also clearly played well. Therefore, for next week's match in the 2024/25 Super League, we need to come back here with a better mentality and performance,” emphasised the Red Giants' Head Coach.
Selangor FC will face Penang FC again at the Penang City Stadium but this time in the 2024/25 Super League on 25 January at 8:15PM.
Then, the second leg of the MFL Challenge Cup 2024/25 Semi-Finals will take place at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya on the 2nd of February, at 9:00PM.
The Selangor FC management hopes that the team can stay focused and continue to give their best to win both the Super League and the MFL Challenge Cup matches. Keep going, Red Giants!
